Some Sims are born to be stars – they’re the ones you’ll find as Entertainers in The Sims 4. No matter if your Sim prefers cracking jokes and leaving the crowd in stitches as a Comedian or playing their heart out and moving that same crowd to tears as a Musician, there’s a place on stage for them.
Virtuosos and Goofballs alike can thrive in the Entertainer career! In this career guide, we’re breaking down every level of the entire Entertainer career in The Sims 4 and providing all the info you’ll need for both the Comedian and Musician career paths.
Entertainer Career Overview
Pursue Stardom Through Either Comedy Or Music
Though the earliest levels of the Entertainer career in The Sims 4 are the same general ladder-climbing positions you may expect to see in real entertainment, you’ll be able to choose a career path at Level Five, sooner than in most careers.
And that’s because the specialized paths in the Entertainer career couldn’t be more different from one another:
- Comedians focus their time and energy on writing jokes and performing routines, with an emphasis on both the Comedy and Charisma skills.
- Comedy is naturally the more important of the two for the Comedian career path, requiring you to master the Comedy skill at the highest level of the career.
- Musicians, meanwhile, must learn both Piano and a second instrument (either Guitar or Violin), with all energy focused toward your creative skills instead of social.
- You’ll need to master the Piano skill, but you only need to reach Level Eight of either Guitar or Violin, so if you need to choose early, Piano is a good choice.
Your earliest days as an entertainer are marked by working late hours for low pay to start, but the prime time spots and the big bucks will be rolling in before long once you choose a specialization. Everybody’s got to start somewhere!
Choose Your Career Path Early To Start Honing Skills Sooner
While not every career in The Sims 4 has such intensely different paths once the career splits (if it even does), the two paths in the Entertainer career couldn’t be more different.
Comedians will find the most success with sharpened social skills in addition to their comedy, with Charisma being critical to their ability to work a crowd.
Meanwhile, a Musician won’t be chatting as much, with their instrument between them and their audience, but their creative skills will be critical, requiring proficiency in two instruments to progress.
Thankfully, with the career tracks so different, it shouldn’t be hard to choose early on, so start building your auxiliary skills early in addition to the general Entertainer career requirements at lower career levels.
Your daily tasks before specializing at Level Five are to Write Jokes or Practice Music, which gives you a leg up on building your skills before you specify – both tasks build the associated skills, so choose which one makes the most sense for your dream job!
Helpful Traits, And Moods For Entertainers
Creative Introverts Make Great Musicians…
Since Musicians will be spending the majority of their time playing instruments, the Creative trait is a massive help for getting the most out of your practice time.
Creative Sims learn instruments quicker than normal and will become Inspired while playing. They’re also more inclined to feel Inspired throughout the day, which is the Ideal Mood for this career path.
Music Lover is a natural choice, allowing Sims to feel Happy playing instruments and enjoy listening to music.
And since so much of the time you’ll spend practicing is spent alone, Loner Sims may do well here, too. Loners’ Social need decays slower than normal, making those long hours of practice less taxing.
You’ll need to socialize at least a little, though, as you’ll need to reach Level Three in the Comedy skill to be promoted to Level Four of the Entertainer career, so don’t spend too much time practicing yet!
… While Funny Extroverts Make Great Comedians
Meanwhile, Comedians should be focused more on their social skills and would benefit from more extroverted traits.
Sims with the Outgoing trait will thrive in the Comedian branch, focused on working a crowd and able to build these skills quicker than others since they’re naturally inclined to socialize with others.
Additionally, the Ideal Mood for Comedians is Playful, so Sims with the Goofball trait – who naturally feel Playful more often – can thrive here.
You will need to reach Level Three of either the Guitar or Violin skill to get to Level Four of the Entertainer Career before you can specialize in comedy, though, so it doesn’t hurt for your Sim to be good at music as well.
